Tiago Cortez, partner in Dispute Resolution: Litigation and Arbitration at KLA, will be one of the speakers at the 2025 edition of LACCA Live: São Paulo Meeting, taking place on May 8 in São Paulo.
He will take part in an interview-style panel alongside Marcelo Bechara Hobaika, director of Institutional Relations and Media Regulation at Globo.
Marcelo Hobaika is a lawyer specializing in digital law and a member of the Superior Council of ABERT (the Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters).
Tiago Cortez has been involved in cases currently under review by Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court (STF) concerning the constitutionality of Article 19 of the Brazilian Civil Rights Framework for the Internet (Marco Civil da Internet). In these proceedings, he addresses the potential impact of an unconstitutionality ruling on various business models.
Their conversation at LACCA Live, themed “The Future of Internet Governance and Liability in Brazil,” will explore the trends and challenges surrounding internet regulation and platform liability in the country.
The event
Held at the Rosewood Hotel, the event will gather over 300 participants, including law firm partners and in-house counsel, for a day of networking and discussions on strategic legal topics such as artificial intelligence, risk-based compliance, crisis management, and the M&A market.
Six panels will be held throughout the day, addressing issues including AI, compliance, crisis response, M&A, and more. Discussions will feature representatives from companies across various industries.
LACCA Live is organized by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association and aims to promote experience-sharing and continuous legal development.
Representing KLA, partners Henrique Lopes (Tax) and Karin Alvo (Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions) will also attend the event. Both have been speakers at previous editions of LACCA Live in São Paulo.
